Nobody Cares…REALLY???

The Terminator: Can you get fired over a Facebook “Like”?

An interesting read. Food for thought.

As social media continues to engrain itself in our lives, cyber-law becomes an area of law that very few know much about with a lot gray area in terms of what is considered legal and illegal.  If I wanted to go to law school, I would definitely go for cyber-law because it is becoming widely needed across social media platforms.  A recent court case that brought legal attention to Facebook was Bland v. Roberts

Bland v. Roberts was a lawsuit brought by six former employees of the Sheriff’s Department in Hampton, Virginia alleging that their former employer, Sheriff B.J. Roberts, wrongful terminated them due to their support of Sheriff Robert’s opposition, Jim Adams, in a 2009 re-election campaign.  Five of the six plaintiffs argued that Sheriff Robert’s terminated their employment at the Department because they had liked Adam’s page on Facebook.

The plaintiffs asserted that their rights to freedom…

Top 10 Reasons To Smile

What a perfect way to start the day, smile, sip your coffee or tea and be thankful for the day!
Great posts, thank you for reminding me to smile.

You sit nervously at your desk while your teacher gives back graded tests.  You studied all week.  You stayed up late.  You skipped date night.  You receive your test, quickly skim to the bottom, and see a crazy red symbol: A.  You breathe a sigh of relief, and finally let an ear-to-ear smile take over your face.

We’re accustomed to smiling after receiving after receiving positive news, hearing a great joke, or seeing our friends.  However, when you step back, you realize there are many smaller moments (that are less profound) that deserve a smile as well, as they happen much more frequently.  There are also functions under the skin surface that you never see, but can definitely feel.  Case in point: spend as much time smiling as possible (without being weird about it).

Here are our Top 10 Reasons to Smile:

1 – It’s healthy.  Smiling reduces stress…

What I learned tonight

This is fantastic. Give it a read everyone, see what can happen when people come together to share a love of the poetic word.
I want to participate!

What I learned tonight

A collaborative twitter poem by @vivchook @troublegummer @brudberg @permabloom @myVogonPoetry and @stair71
To make it easier to read it’s added below.

The bed is so hot, and the moon outside taunts me,
Looking like a wedge of silver watermelon.
A lonely rooster crows restlessly in the dark,
Too early for dawn. Perhaps he can’t sleep, either.

I hear the regular breathing rising and falling beside me
Taunting me too with its cadence oblivious of this
And I lie here burning and look out that window
Knowing just two of us are together, alone

The silver wings of moonlight tempt and lure me out
as my bare feet seek the meadow grass of spring.
In the undergrowth a doe is hiding with her newborn fawn.
The coolness of the night so soothing to my pains.

A familiar predicament, that vague promise
Of a salve for the soul, a gift offered…

Dial Me Broken

I really enjoyed this poem, thought evoking and powerfully expressed!

jelmo88's avatarjelmo88's Blog

Trust that my need
to speak with you today
is crucial,
that my need
to hear your voice
above the heavily
trafficked silence
is pivotal to my existence.
No email or text message
will do,
don’t two-way or page me
I refuse
to bookmark this demand.
I need you
to whisper reassurance
through the currents,
as if I were the wire
your voice, the insulation;
may it electrify my skin again.

Our heart’s chambers and secrets
have their beats relinquished,
hung in the pendulous mind
of my alcoholic grandfather clock;
still downing our future
in shot glasses,
chasing it with my hopes
not bitter enough to spew back,
simply waiting
to be fermented.

So kindle me,
watch me scintillate excuses
still beaming for forgiveness.
Hold me between your fingers
and I’ll fuel your addiction
between the lighter
and your lips.
Inhale me slowly,
savor me long within your chest
as…

AM~musings with paint and words

Benjamin what a beautiful introduction for me to you and your blog, I need to share this, you, with my community.
I was/am totally taken away by this, the rhythm is beautiful the visual, breathtaking.
And your art, speaks for itself.
I’m your newest big fan.

prewitt1970's avatarExpressions of my life - An evolution of art.

In the mornings night
With such delight a calm
And silence has spread its wings
No jumbled noises or raised
Up voices. Just the quiet in
My head.
Pictures if paint blues,
greens and gold
Words of love, passion
and things of old.

Simple trinkets to remind me of
The days I’ve left behind.
Simple visions of the thing I’ve yet to find
All just memories if my one long day
All just footnotes in the pages that lay
Strewn about in my mind and play tricks
With words and paint, all just dots and dashes.
Like garter belts and mustaches
Things that make us think in a certain way. The illusion of life as it may, for we all just sit, sit and wait for the day
When the death lights come to take us away. Simple really…..just another story
Of stories about a story. This time I think…

I stand between earth and sky.
My sweat streaks the dust on my skin.
Breath comes heavily,
Ragged in my mouth and nostrils.
A fire burns in my eyes.
The child of the flame in my soul.
Tall above the weakness,
I smile at the futility.
I bend my shoulder to the weight,
And move mountains.

I wrote her a love note

Afraid of rejection, I didn’t give it to her

Finally, I burned it

Little did I know

She read the dead letters in the ashes

I got a love letter in the mail today
