I’m going with him

I can’t stop my grin

My smurk

The way my knees jerk

When I think of him

I get all jittery

Like a 30’s jitterbug

I loved you then

Way back when

I was young and free

No cares on who to be

but yours

Hollow

in limbo

Everything I’m made of

is dry and thin and brittle

like paper, too long in the sun

I am held together

with tape and hope

Can you see the way I crumple

in your lightest breeze

where, once, I could withstand

the full onslaught of your storm?

Can you see the way my edges crumble

at your slightest touch

where, once, I thrilled

to be crushed by your embrace?

Can you see me

or just the fading history

that is written on me?

I am still here

In limbo

Hollow

 

 

the mind wonders
to a realm of doubts
the mind wonders
where the moon and stars reside
to close the door.
the mind wonders
when and why
to the birds who fly high
the mind wonders
in to the mist of life

You wanted my heart

You took it for a ride

Across the country side

You said you would take me places that I’d never been before

And you did

Places that I didn’t want to go

You showed me sites that were precious to you

They made no sense to me

You whispered to me to come closer so that I could see what you were pointing at

No matter how hard I tried to see it, I couldn’t

I didn’t see the beauty in the things you found fanciful

I didn’t stand in awe at the things that took your breath away

The tree covered hill tops

Alive with the chirping of birds

Their songs echoing

Providing solace and joy to my soul

They sing their song

Encouraging nature along,

Natures love song

Giving rise to the earth
