Spoken Word encompasses all emotions specific to the writer for whatever piece he or she is writing. Each artist shares his or her thoughts through imagination or elevated thought which invokes the assistance of metaphors to enhance the meaning of the poem. Ms. Gibson expressed a simple emotion with so much conviction that enabled her audience to connect.
Indeed! It was beautifully done. Spoken word is on my ‘to do’ list butI feel I could never ‘perform’ like that!
