In between, places yet unseen
The Poem. This is where it all started. I took a chance, posted this one poem that I wrote in 2009 and you all encouraged me to continue to write poetry and here we are almost 2 months later and over 40 poems. Thank you for supporting and encouraging my writing. Jennifer
Jennifer
Have you ever felt in between?
Excited to be places yet unseen?
Embarking on a new or scary venture?
But knowing that it’s right?
That is how I have been feeling today.
Take courage my friends and trust in yourself and your intuition.
In honor of National poetry month, here is my one and only poem.
This was written during a time of pondering faith and science in Feb. 2009
In between
Heaven, earth
Creator, creation
faith, manipulation
joy, exasperation
Belief, trust
hardened crust
They’ve seen the light
about to take flight
to places unseen,
somewhere in between
Bipedalism, microorganisms
evolution, pollution
surreal, secular appeal
be like me, trinity
cross symbolism
fleshly heroism
Glorified Gods
isolated pods.
They’ve seen the light
about to take flight
to places never seen,
somewhere in between.
Knowledge
realities foliage
“I think that was a poem, either way I love words.“

Spring Tea, Adam’s 6 today!
My baby is 6 today! Read more about it on my Mommy Blog.
Here is Adam at his second birthday party.
My baby is 6 today!
Chubby bubby. Adam was 11 pounds 5 ounces at birth
I can’t believe it, really.
He’s always been into little things, taking remote controls apart, exploring electronics and building..
Time does fly doesn’t it?
This is one of my favorite photos of ‘Boo’, Adam’s nickname, seen here playing peek a boo at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa, Canada
What a sweet boy. *sigh*
I find it a fitting day. I have been going to the annual kindergarten Spring Tea at the children’s school for the last 6 years in a row. We have junior and senior kindergarten here so I have been attending for Noah, Eden and Adam. Sadly this will be my last one as a Mother but I’m so thankful that it falls on Adam’s birthday this year. Maybe one day I will return…

Before and After Photos because you know you love them… and more snobbery.
More of my snobbery on kitchen reno’s this time…
So we have a big clan and we needed a big house to fit all my children. An old shoe would no longer do!
So we bought our second fixer upper. A very spacious 8 bedroom house. The first one is now a rental and it’s still in grave need of more fixer-uppering (I know that’s not a word, please don’t email me about it) There are never enough hours in the day.
So welcome to my beautiful eat in kitchen! (We also have a dinning room)
Isn’t it so spacious? I know it’s great but in need of a little update? Or maybe a complete overhaul!!??
What is with the cardboard cutout kindergarten trim? And the not even worthy of the outdoors railing stuff?… Want to see more?
*not the gold lamee mirror at the end of the room* Some one suggested that we sell it on eBay? Really?*

Confessions of a Coffee Snob
I’m a coffee snob. Read about my snobbery here! (I wrote this post, it’s on my Mommy blog)
Updated December 2025:
I first wrote this years ago when my biggest daily struggle was running out of espresso beans. Now that I travel full-time, my relationship with coffee has changed… sort of. This original story still makes me laugh, so I’m keeping it exactly as it was — with a small update at the end.
Ok be forewarned I will sound like a complete snob here but we all have our flaws right?
So the other morning we were out of coffee. *Gasp*
As I’m sure you can imagine, the Mr. and I drink coffee to help us peel open our eyes and function in the morning.
I walk almost blindly, with my hands waving in front of me to not bang into or trip on anything. Avoiding stepping on children, that would be bad, to the espresso machine and robotically perform the same exact function every…

INSERT *RANT* HERE! YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE THIS…
I don’t know, maybe it’s because the Leafs lost last night but I needed to blow off some steam. Check out my rant here!
This post began as a raw rant I wrote back in May 2013 — when my kids were still young, smartphones were just entering every household, and the digital world was starting to creep into childhood in ways that made me uncomfortable.
Now, standing at the start of 2026, it’s unsettling to see how much I got right… and how much worse the situation has become.
Where Will the Lives of Our Children Be Three Generations From Now?
Way back when children used to be married off as soon as they “came of age.” As soon as girls menstruated, they were considered old enough to take on the day-to-day duties of women — cleaning, keeping a home, caring for a husband.
Generations fought to abolish that.
We agreed children should stay children longer.
We said they weren’t mentally or physically developed enough for those responsibilities.
And now look at…

Time to lay it on the table… life-blogging and Bi-Polar Disorder
Such kind words from my fellow blogger Jim.

And Jim, it’s all you buddy.

Time to lay it on the table.
Around 2004 I was diagnosed Bi-Polar Disorder and PTSD.I have been off medication since August of last year.
I don’t know if I agree with my professional diagnosis, but a rose, by any other name… know what I mean? Like, call it what you want, but when it’s 3 am and I’m lonely, and I have a black wind blowing in my ears and everything feels meaningless, I don’t give a shit what it’s called.
Late December I got Twitter. By early January I was more aware than I ever wanted to be how many desperate souls there are out there tweeting into the silence.
“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.” ― Henry David Thoreau
That depressed me so bad I can’t explain. I mean, all these goddamn people and so much…
