                  CHEERS!

Think Green. Come see what I mean!

How many of us have been to weddings and baby showers or even birthdays and gone out to buy a card to go with our gifts?

Um, I would say I think everyone has at some point or another.

My sister in law (my brothers wife) is pregnant with her second child (my first niece, YAY)

I recently received an invitation in the mail to attend the baby shower.  Included was a poem.  I want to share it with you,

Although cards are nice with their sentiment and prayer,

They’re read once or twice then tucked away with care.

A book is a treasure words and pictures unite,

Read over and over to teach and delight.

So instead of a card for Babies and Mother,

Please give a child’s book with your thoughts in the cover

Your book will be cherished; God will watch from above,

When it’s read they will remember your kindness and love.

I don’t know whom the author is it didn’t say!

What a nice sentiment.

While I have dedicated many a book (written in the front cover my thoughts and messages) to my children and others this is the first time I have received it in an invitation.  This is such a fantastic idea.

Weekly Writing Collaboration Challenge with the Mrs. For writers, poets and photographers…come on I know you have the ‘write’ stuff!

Image

So I have come up with a weekly collaboration idea!  I challenge you as writers and poets to “stuff” my opening and closing paragraphs with a written paragraph of no more than 5 sentences or a poetry verse of 6 lines that would fit as the “stuffing” of the story.

But don’t do this… Continue reading

PAY DAY post to follow this afternoon!

“Hear my voice” Alexander Graham Bell and me

Well let me start off by saying Holy Crap! It’s been a month! *does a little happy dance* yes I do little happy dances….

I want to share something with you that I found fascinating.  Mr. (Alex) has an hour commute into work every day.  He loves to listen to the BBC and CBC radio during his commute.  In the evening he has some fantastic news bits to share with me.  It’s great lately because all I seem to do is eat, sleep and breathe blogging in my spare time.  News? No time, terrible I know.  At least I have Alex’s daily updates so I can stay in the loop.

The other night Alex told me about a piece that he heard in regards to Alexander Graham Bell (scientist, innovator, inventor, engineer and creator of the first telephone).  Up until a few days ago they had not ever been able to hear his voice.  He attempted to make recordings but they were trapped in plastic.  Days ago it was  discovered that the Smithsonian had successfully transferred the ‘recordings’ into audible sound.

29 Days, 11,000 hits. 1,800 followers (1,100 from Word Press!) Read this if you are interested in Pay it Forward Thursdays. PAY DAY

Hey everyone.

One of my New Years Resolutions was to start a blog and to write. It was also to go the gym regularly but that didn’t last too long!  The blogging, well I am almost one month into it now and I have no intention of slowing down.  I’m loving writing and the blogging community and starting projects like PAY DAY

That being said I started a google + (writingsofamrs Jennifer) account with a You Tube Channel.  Here is the address to the Channel it is still under construction but please feel free to sign up (however you do that!?)  http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr13m4Cz8ZUgelYk1Lokudw .  The primary reason for this is for the ‘release’ or ‘debut’ of Rays rendition song Gravy Baby, along with any other future projects.  Please bare with me because I really am walking in the dark trying to make all of this happen.  I really appreciate all of your support and encouragement.  If anyone has any helpful info for me on how to manage the You Tube channel etc that would be excellent!

I will be posting an intro video followed by Rays video that you can link to through my blog in my PAY DAY Thursday post around 2:00 pm my time.  I will give more info about the upcoming Thursdays collaborations along with some other general information.

I’m looking for other song writers, musicians, DJ’s, performers etc to collaborate with so if you know anyone that might be interested please have them contact me!  But make sure that they read my original Pay Day post first.  ( I don’t need any emails with people asking me for money!) Any one else that would like to participate please contact me by email, it’s easier for me to keep on top of it that way. writingsofamrs@outlook.com

Thank you again for all of your inquiries.  I am doing my best to keep on top of responding to all of the emails and to also keep on top of my comments and my posts and engaging with the Word Press community!

Happy New Year!! My ‘crown’ says Bonne Anne which means Happy New Year in french. (better late then never right?)

The ‘little things’ that matter in life, a bit of humor for Monday

So we decided to go to Cooper Marsh on Sunday with our younger children. It is one of my favourite places to go with the littles.  I have pushed many a stroller through the muddy walkway and pulled many a wagon.  We’ve fetched shoes thrown over the edge of the boardwalk, pulled out rubber boots stuck in mud and carried a tired toddler to my exhaustion many a time.  But not this Sunday, we decided to bring Maya (our black lab) with us for the walk.  It must have been winter brain that made me forget but you are not allowed to bring dogs there, not even if they are on a leash.

So we hopped into the car and decided to go to our favourite local beach.  While driving I noticed a frog, a really big frog, at the side of the road.  I mentioned it to the family and my husband insisted that we turn around and go see it (I think he thought I was bluffing when I used my hands to describe how big it was but he assures me that is not the case)  So we turn around and find Mr. Frog.  By this time he is in the middle of the road.  Alex jumps out of the car and goes running into the middle of the rural highway and starts flagging his hands at the cars  and trucks protecting little (well, huge) Mr. Frog.  Continue reading
